Architecture At Villa Equilibrium, a monolithic volume, pared back and with a strong presence, rests lightly on untouched land, with minimal intervention and maximum openness to the natural surroundings.
The starting point was to keep contact with the ground and the degree of intervention to a minimum, so as to make the most of the views over the landscape. The house is born from a monolithic mass rising from the ground. From this mass, the volumes needed for the openings are carved out and, finally, the linearity is broken by an incisive movement that unsettles the form and gives the house its personality.
The house hovers over the landscape and touches the ground only to stand and to allow access inside. It rests on the land without being embedded in it, blending into the natural surroundings while standing apart from the neighbouring buildings. Its dark material, its reading as a single piece and the staircase leading to the entrance reinforce this sculptural, pared-back character.
