Architecture In Gerês, Villa Eternity is a disruptive element set into the mountainside in order to take hold of it. The intention was one of opposition: to stir things up, to create an element that clearly does not belong to that landscape and that causes unease.
Architecture does not always need to blend into its surroundings, and this house proves it. SAME Architects sought the opposite of serenity, because only then can architecture compete with the beauty of the Gerês greenery and stand out against it.
Fluid, organic and continuous movements accentuate the character of something made by man, set against the organic blend of the surrounding green.
The landscape comes first. The aim was to contemplate it, absorb it and feel it while moving through the inside of the house.
An architecture that breaks with what exists, yet lives for it.
