Architecture Architecture Villa Floating is a house that refuses the image of a static object placed on the land. A fluid, sculptural white mass runs across the façades, defines the silhouette of the house and makes movement the heart of SAME Architects’ project.
The volume was designed to be dynamic and to emphasise the movement of the façades. The house is rooted in its site and, at the same time, breaks free through planes in constant motion. It is this tension between weight and lightness that gives it its identity.
Horizontal planes turn into vertical planes, and vice versa. This constant transformation of the façades creates the intended dynamism and lets the house read as a single continuous mass of generous curves wrapping the living spaces. Against this built mass stand the glazed surfaces, whose transparency heightens its movement.
