Architecture In Belas Clube de Campo stands Ville Radieuse, a single-family house that draws on nature for the inspiration of its façades. An L-shaped volume, facing south and open to the landscape to the north, is wrapped in a skin of subtle curves that give it unique movement, character and identity.
The orientation of the plot was the main driver of the concept. To the north, the site offers the best views over the natural surroundings that define Belas. To the south lie the access road and the best sun exposure.
To meet both conditions, SAME Architects placed the volume at the north-eastern end of the plot, in an L-shaped layout. This gives the longest possible south-facing façade, and the main living spaces enjoy the best view over the landscape.
With the siting and volumes defined, Ville Radieuse takes shape. The geometric form of the petal brings precise, elegant movement to the façades, giving them dynamism and sophistication. Its curves set the position of the openings and also mark the transitions between materials.
The façade wraps the building like an organism, creating a dynamic whole that changes and is rediscovered as one moves around it. Arches and curves frame the windows, the balconies and the incoming light, and the warm tones of terracotta contrast with textured grey panels and the glass balustrades. Ville Radieuse stands out for its unique character, its subtle curves and the dynamism of its façades.
